WWW Wednesdays #4

WWW Wednesdays is hosted by Should Be Reading. It’s a weekly (Wednesday-gasp!) event where you share

1. What you’re currently reading

3. What you think you’ll read next.

 What I’m Currently Reading

The Hunt by Andrew Fukuda

Goodreads | Amazon | The Book Depository

Ok seriously I have to read this book – this is the 3rd week in a row it’s been on my currently reading post and well I still haven’t read it!  I’m reading one other book currently and I’m not starting anything else until this one is finished!

Goodreads Synopsis:

Don’t Sweat.  Don’t Laugh.  Don’t draw attention to yourself.  And most of all, whatever you do, do not fall in love with one of them.
Gene is different from everyone else around him.  He can’t run with lightning speed, sunlight doesn’t hurt him and he doesn’t have an unquenchable lust for blood.  Gene is a human, and he knows the rules.  Keep the truth a secret.  It’s the only way to stay alive in a world of night—a world where humans are considered a delicacy and hunted for their blood.

When he’s chosen for a once in a lifetime opportunity to hunt the last remaining humans, Gene’s carefully constructed life begins to crumble around him.  He’s thrust into the path of a girl who makes him feel things he never thought possible—and into a ruthless pack of hunters whose suspicions about his true nature are growing. Now that Gene has finally found something worth fighting for, his need to survive is stronger than ever—but is it worth the cost of his humanity?

Masque of the Red Death by Bethany Griffin

Goodreads | Amazon | The Book Depository

I’m half way through this book currently and I’m loving it! I have never read Edgar Allan Poe’s Masque of the Red Death and feel I really should make the effort after I finish this just to really appreciate what this author has created.

Goodreads Synopsis:

Everything is in ruins.

A devastating plague has decimated the population. And those who are left live in fear of catching it as the city crumbles to pieces around them.

So what does Araby Worth have to live for?

Nights in the Debauchery Club, beautiful dresses, glittery make-up . . . and tantalizing ways to forget it all.

But in the depths of the club—in the depths of her own despair—Araby will find more than oblivion. She will find Will, the terribly handsome proprietor of the club. And Elliott, the wickedly smart aristocrat. Neither boy is what he seems. Both have secrets. Everyone does.

And Araby may find something not just to live for, but to fight for—no matter what it costs her.

What I Recently Finished Reading

Night Beach by Kirsty Eagar

Goodreads.com | Amazon | The Book Depository

Wow this was a fantastic book! I am writing a review as we speak and I really suggest giving this book ago.  It makes me sad sometimes knowing that because this book was written and released in Australia that it will never get the hype and publicity that many much weaker books get.

Goodreads Synopsis:

Imagine there is someone you like so much that just thinking about them leaves you desperate and reckless. You crave them in a way that’s not rational, not right, and you’re becoming somebody you don’t recognise, and certainly don’t respect, but you don’t even care.

And this person you like is unattainable. Except for one thing…

He lives downstairs.

Abbie has three obsessions. Art. The ocean. And Kane.

But since Kane’s been back, he’s changed. There’s a darkness shadowing him that only Abbie can see. And it wants her in its world.

A gothic story about the very dark things that feed the creative process.

What I Plan on Reading Next

The Selection by Kiera Cass

Goodreads | Amazon | The Book Depository

There was a lot of outrage and scandal about this book recently and I know many bloggers boycotted this novel over it.  While I understand where they are coming from, I believe I’m willing to judge this book on it’s merit and not it’s pre release scandal.

Goodreads Synopsis:

For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in the palace and compete for the heart of the gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn’t want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she’s made for herself- and realizes that the life she’s always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

So what are you reading at the moment? Link me your WWW Wednesday or if you aren’t a blogger let me know in the comments – I would love to hear!

I just received THE HUNT for review and then I had to hide it after reading the opener because I just loved how it started. I’m hoping to get to it soon. But first I need to read books like Masque of the Red Death which have been on my TBR list for weeks now.

I’m also really glad to see that the new Eager book is good. Gonna have to try to get my hands on it!

My WWW Wednesday is here.

I’m sure The Hunt is fantastic its just really hard to get in any reading time if I cant get the book on my iphone via the kindle or stanza apps because I do most of my reading while I’m nursing my daughter :( ah well will just have to make time for it soon!

Tanya Patrice says:

Wow – Night Beach does sound amazing. Adding it to my long list of books to be read.

It was so fantastic – very dark and different from your standard YA!

Cheers for stopping by – the cover for The Selection is very lovely!

Ooh, I missed the scandal about The Selection… what was it? I’d better add Night Beach to my list, it sounds great!

For those interested this post sums it up with links quite nicely:

I didn’t think it was as bad as some make it out personally though I can appreciate that it would upset others.

adding all these to my lists! what was the scandal over selection?

Oh, I want to read The Selection! Even with the whole thing with the author and her agent acting up over a bad review, it sounds like a great book! And The Hunt, it was a quick read :) really enjoyed it, if a bit frustrated at what a bad human he was. I hope to read the Masque of Red Death soon, it looks great! Hope you enjoyed your books! Thanks for stopping by! Happy reading!

The Selection was a light fun read – definitely recommend it :)

Top!
