Parallel by Lauren MillerIn My Mailbox #1

In My Mailbox, hosted by The Story Siren is a weekly post that allows book bloggers to share their excitement over new books they have received each week.
This last week has been really busy for me, launching a new blog will do that to you, so bear with me as I gloat over my upcoming reads!
Purchased Books & Pre Orders
The Red Queen by Isobelle Carmody
Goodreads.com | The Book Depository
I’m so excited to read this – I read the first of the Isobelle Carmody series back in 2001 so to finally read the finale is a very big deal to me.
For some reason Goodreads.com states it’s coming out in 2013, but Book Depository is releasing it in just over 30 days so I preordered it and am now itching to get my hands on it. I think it must be a US release thing perhaps – I know that the books are ordered differently there and they were released much later.
City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare
Goodreads.com | Amazon | The Book Depository
This is one of my favourite Young Adult series and I can’t wait to read the next installment which is released for Kindle on May 8.
The best thing about Kindle preorders is when they magically appear on your device, its like christmas came early

With all my Netgalley goodies, plus the millions of books in my to-read list I didn’t pick up many freebies this week. I did find the time to download these 2 for the Kindle though.

Squeee!! Fantastic haul
I thought Red Queen wasn’t being released until later in the year? I might have to borrow yours once you’re done if it really is coming next month!
Philippa says:
Book Depository better not be fibbing about it otherwise I’m going to be one sad panda! You’re definitely welcome to borrow mine after I’ve finished reading it

I got betrayal for free on the kindle too. Just got to find the time to read it now!
Philippa says:
I find thats the problem with freebies – I keep getting them yet they always seem to get pushed down to the bottom of my to read list!
Ellie says:
I requested The Immortal Rules because it was so popular it broke NetGalley but I’m not sure if I’ll get accepted if they have a limit. Haven’t read any of her other books before.
Philippa says:
I was really surprised that I was approved for a copy considering I didn’t actually have a live blog at the time. I haven’t read the Iron Fey either but I’ve heard good things so I’m really excited to start reading it.
Kristen says:

Thanks for dropping by my IMM
Awesome books! I still need to get through the Obernewtyn Chronicles but I’ll be flying up to Sydney in may for the Sydney Writer’s Festival to see Isobelle Carmody, Scott Westerfeld and Justine Larbalestier speak so I must get the rest of the series and read them too >.<
Can’t wait to read more of The Immortal Rules. Must do that after I finish Black Dawn.
Happy reading
Philippa says:
I love the Obernewtyn Chronicles! I know a few people who don’t like Elspeth (the main character) she’s quite a reserved distant type, a bit like Katniss from The Hunger Games. I quite like those types of female leads though so I never felt it took away from the story! The Sydney Writer’s Festival line up sounds wonderful, very jealous!
Christie's Book Reviews says:

First of all, let me say thanks for dropping by my blog and I love your theme! I really like how you did the follow me section of your side bar.
Ok, that said, I’ve been seeing City of Lost Souls everywhere so I’m going to have to pick up the first in the series to see what it is all about. I’ve started reading Betrayal but haven’t finished it. So far it does look good.
Philippa says:
I definitely recommend the Cassandra Clare books – they are fantastic! They’re being made into a movie atm so get in before you see the screen adaptation
Thanks for the lovely comments re my blog layout – I’m very lucky to have a sister that is good with this type of thing
